I’ve never been one to keep a journal. I have nothing against keeping journal. It’s just that there always seems to be something else going on. It’s a “not enough hours in the day’ kinda thing. However, as I grow older I realize that you have to make time for these sorta things. Everyone needs an outlet. Everyone needs a place to express and release the daily trials and tribulations along with the joys and jubilations. This is my outlet. Just me and the keyboard.
So what is The Restoration Project? Well, it’s not a classic car (that would be another outlet). It has to do with my weight, health, and overall physical being. It’s not only a commitment to a new lifestyle, but also a commitment to a new way of being. I’ve been overweight for a while now. I used to say to my friends and family, “You know, not too long ago I was Senior in high school weighing only 200lbs!” You know what? It has been a long time now. I’m 35 years old and married with two kids. I’ve been out of school longer than it took me to go through school. I’m approaching that time of life where it becomes harder to lose the weight than it was 10 years ago. Things take longer and aches and pains last longer. Waiting for my weight to disappear on it’s own is not gonna happen.
With all that said, I realize it’s not too late! Through deep commitment and effort it is possible to restore my body back to its former self. It’s not too late to turn the tide. It’s not too late to channel my inner beast and conquer the crave. It’s not too late to get back in shape.
It’s not too late!
