LIGHTROOM or APERTURE?
Which is your photo manager of choice? Perhaps leave a comment below describing your favorite feature? The goal here is NOT to start a battle of which is better. As photographers we choose software that best suits our needs. The goal here is to see what percentage of you are using which software AND which features you like the most. Hopefully we can all benefit from the feedback!

I use Aperture, mostly because at this point switching would be a pain in the neck, and so unless some new development makes Lightroom significantly better in obvious ways, it makes no sense even to spend time analyzing the differences. That said, if I switched, I would miss Aperture’s slideshows and bookmaking options, and the geotagging feature. I also prefer Apertures integration of photo management and editing (not having to switch between Library and Development modules). Things that entice me about Lightroom include better noise reduction, gradient filters, and the ability to use the X-Rite Color Checker system.
Thanks for the awesome feedback Mark. I’m still using Aperture now. Mainly in part because of what you mentioned. Moving to Lightroom would be a pain. I too like the slideshows in Aperture. I am shooting a party this weekend in which I must shoot and put a slideshow together onsite for playback during dessert. I could do this in both programs, but Aperture has more appealing slideshow templates.
The one thing that keeps drawing me to Lightroom are the plugins. Everyone makes a plugin for Lightroom whereas some companies make plugins for Aperture. I also really like Lightroom’s print module. It is a terrific tool for home printing for my family.
At the end of the day I have too much vested in Aperture. Making the switch to Lightroom would require a full weekend of work and that is time I just don’t have.
And then there’s this fellow, who developed a process for Aperture users to add Lightroom to their workflow:

I haven’t tried it, although I do have LR installed after buying it really cheap as part of some Adobe promotion. He concedes it isn’t for everyone.
