My friends and I get together every other week for our regular poker game. Cards, pizza, beer, and TV make for a good night. I had brought my rented Sigma 70-200 to our last game. Good thing I did, because I sure as heck didn’t bring my poker game with me. I was one of the 1st to be eliminated, so I decided to pull out the camera a grab some images.
I really wanted to like the images from the Sigma 70-200. I was hoping that it could be a cheap solution for not being able to afford the Nikon 70-200. For the most part, I am happy with the images. The one thing that bothers me is the very sudden change in the focal plane. You can almost see the exact line where the image goes from blurry to sharp. I have used the Nikon 70-200 before and the change in focal plane seems to be a more gradual one. That is my only problem with the lens, but it makes me wonder if its worth buying this lens. Maybe I should just save up and by the right tool once!
If you are wondering about Vader, he is my chip marker. Poker players around the world place various markers on their cards to let the dealer and other players know that you are still in the hand and have not folded. I use Vader and firmly believe that it is the coolest chip marker ever!
