CRYOGENIC FREEZING?

Well this one is from last month.  I thought it was really cool.  I’ll give you some background to the image.

We just got done dealing with an icy rain storm the night prior.  The next morning I went out to work on clearing my car off.  In front of my house resides the bush that’s in the picture.  We call it the “security bush” because in the summer, the thing blooms so big that it almost prevents access to the door!

Anyway, the gutter for the rain is directly above the security bush.  The gutter was overflowing with water which was falling on the security bush.  Add some frozen temperatures and wallah! You get the image above.

THIS AIN’T NO PICNIC

I hope nobody was sitting on that bench!

This image pretty much speaks for itself.  It does a nice job of showing exactly how annoying the snow has been this year in New Jersey.  To quote Forest Gump, “that’s all I have to say about that.”

STAYING NORTH FOR WINTER

So the snow is starting to melt.  At this pace, it should all be gone by July 4th.

This is a quick capture I made after storm 7.  My wife and I were looking out the window when she noticed a bird hanging out on the tree in the front yard.  I grabbed the camera and headed out for a few quick images.  I said to the bird, “hey, you’re supposed to go south for the winter.”  He said, “no.”

After spending 5 minutes capturing images he flew away.  I headed back inside.  My wife asked how’d I do?  I said, “not bad but I could have done better if I had a 70-300mm lens.”  She said, “NO!” :)

ANGELIC FORREST

I noticed this scene while eating lunch one day.  Although on that day, there was no snow on the ground.  I thought to myself that this would look really nice as a winter snow scene.

Well, 6 snow storms later I finally made it back to this location to capture it as visioned in my head.  The color version of this image looks great, but converting it to black and white really gives it something special.  The sun overlooks the scene like an angel.  The only thing I am not crazy about is the size of the sun.  It’s a little big for me.  I would have loved for the sun to be behind me here and out of the scene, but geographically it is not possible.  Overall though, I really like the image.
